Galleon is a melodic neo-Prog group similar to IQ, but will be appreciated by fans of Rush and Eloy. Originally going by the name- Aragon, back in 1989, they kept sending demo tapes around to various music companies and received friendly responses but also a demand to change their name.
With the new name- Galleon, the band started to work on their first album, unfortunately, drummer Dan Fors injured his foot badly and the album was delayed for six months.
During the recording sessions, producer/keyboard player Ulf Pettersson joined the band, but left just before releasing the debut album- `Lynx,' in 1993, leaving Galleon as a three piece band with music arranged for four.
With sales of the CD keeping them from giving up the group, Petterson rejoined the band, which allowed them to go on tour.
`Heritage and Visions,' released in 1994, began to further develop the bands sound since the early eighties. The group was not too crazy about the actual CD.
In 1995, Galleon released the single- `At this moment in time,' but their Asian distributor, wanted a full length CD , so the album `King of Aragon,' was released, giving the band the opportunity to try on odd ideas like the songs: `Illusive exhibition,' and the `Long lonely shadows.'
Going under the name, "Divina Comeda," the album finally surfaced as 1996's `The All European Hero.' In England, the group was awarded- "The melodic Prog album of the year". The band ventured on a mini-tour of Europe with gigs in Norway, England and Germany, receiving a very good response, then writing new material and once again, returning to Europe to tour.
A year after AEH, `Mind over Matter,' was released, followed again by a tour in support of the album. The tour was climaxed, by their performance at the German Progressive Rock Festival , in Bruchsal , Germany.
Guitarist and flute player Micke Värn left the band and was replaced by Sven Larsson and in the year 2000 `Beyond Dreams,' was released getting solid reviews.
